WV MetroNews – Four sentenced in staged automobile accident fraud plan

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Four people today were being sentenced this week in Clarksburg federal court for the plan that defrauded $249,000 in false insurance policies claims in Harrison, Marion and Taylor counties.

A complete of 8 people today were being convicted in March for mail fraud as component of a plan to stage automobile accidents for the duration of the interval of January 2012 to August 2014.

Michael Sine, 34, of Fairmont was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months incarceration. He pled guilty to just one rely of “Mail Fraud” in June 2017.

Sine admitted to taking part in a staged automobile accident, faking injuries from claimed accident and submitting false insurance policies claims ensuing in a $41,000 settlement. The crime took place between Might 2013 and October 2013 in Marion County.

He was also ordered to pay out $74,653.42 in restitution.

Bryce Martin, 26, of Fairmont, was sentenced Tuesday to six months incarceration, and Eric Warner, 35, of Clarksburg, was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months incarceration.

They each pled guilty to just one rely of mail fraud in June 2017.

The two admitted to using component in a staged vehicular accident in January 2012 in Harrison County. They also admitted to faking injuries from claimed accident and submitting a false insurance policies assert, from which they and other folks acquired insurance policies settlements of around $101,500.

They also admitted their role in procuring an insurance policies settlement look at in someone else’s name in the sum of $46,500.

They were being every ordered to pay out $152,603.64 in restitution.

Chasity Costilow, 38, of Clarksburg was sentenced Tuesday to 21 months incarceration.

Costilow pled guilty to just one rely of mail fraud in Might 2017 and admitted to using component in a staged vehicular accident in September 2012 in Marion County.

Costilow also admitted to faking injuries from claimed accident and submitting a false insurance policies assert, from which she acquired a settlement of around $60,000. She was also ordered to pay out $65, 096.84 in restitution.

Four other folks will be sentenced at a later day:

  • Charles Bonner, 34, of Morgantown, and Robin Stoneking, 56, of Fairmont, are scheduled for Oct. 4
  • Martin Stoneking, 25, of Fairmont, is scheduled for Nov. 2
  • Dallas Lewis, 55, of Clarksburg, has not been scheduled
