The Road to Universal Health Coverage: A Documentary on Health Financing


The short documentary film, “The Road to Universal Health Coverage” was launched on World Health Day 2012.

Universal Health Coverage, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), is “access to key promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health interventions for all at an affordable cost, thereby achieving equity.” The documentary film tackles the complex issues surrounding people’s access to Universal Health Care with emphasis on the situation of Southeast Asian countries including the Philippines. It is produced by AIM-ZCABT and the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office (WHO WPRO).

  1. Government run institutes or hospitals in India are inefficient and highly subsidized. Govt of India instead of focusing on Primary Healthcare is equally involved in Tertiary Care. Need of the hour is to focus on Primary care and Road traffic accidents. Govt of India should open more trauma centres along national highways by involving private sector in PUBLIC PRIVTE PARTNERSHIP way = PPP
