Obamacare: The BIGGEST Mistake You Can Make When Choosing a Health Insurance Plan

This video discusses a huge problem that has been seen nationwide with the new Obamacare health plan (and it isn’t the Obamacare website). It is the fact that so many new enrollments seem to just be picking the cheapest monthly premium package instead of looking at all of the variables. Most importantly, the deductible that goes with that package.

This video gives some specific examples that what some Americans are paying per month and also what the corresponding deductible is.

Keep in mind, the most important thing to do when picking your health insurance plan is to find out the TOTAL cost of owning that obamacare plan, not just the monthly premium.

  1. I bought the best plan my county offered BC/BS GOLD plan cost $427.00 a month with dental for two adults. Next Jan. it will drop to $225.00 a month because I recieved a lump some payment from work when I retired and it raised my income for this year. In Jan 2015 it will be based strictly on my retirement pension. Another thing I learned is my state doesn't count homes, cars, or retirement as income and they want me to sign up for $200.00 dollars of month in food stamps or SNAP, it's crazy. It's against everything I believed in, but they make it easy for you. That's if I don't work of course. If I decide to take snap I would buy nothing but steaks and pork ribs with it, because I throw a couple of cookouts every year for three or four neighbors and their kids. This is the first time in my life that I haven't worked and I can't believe all the things the government wants to push on you to take. I guess I could look at it as a retirement benefit. Anyway I living the dream.

  2. I WAS ON OBAMA CARE for 4 months. The major flaw with Obama Care is that it is not administered the same way in each state thus the huge cost differences from state to state. About half the states in the USA it's run by the federal govt, 1/4 of the states it's run by the state and the other quarter is run joint by state and fed. The states that are run by the state ( like my state; Massachusetts) is where you get really screwed because the states can set their own "income threshold" and decide if you get it for a low rate or you get reamed. My wife and I payed over $1100 a month. That's over $13,000 if you have it a year. Is that affordable health care???

  3. Alright there! Nice video you have there! Hope you wont mind me sharing.. have you heard about " Your Insurance Guy Group Insurance Singapore " (search on google)? My boss had some dealings with them and was impressed by their unbelivable knowledge and experience on group insurance in Singapore!

  4. This is really wrong they gonna seize tax return from the poor people giving them more hell and cancer on brain while the disguise evils still selling insurance very expensive, when they die their money will be on their coffin.

  5. The rest of the western world has had government health care for the last 50 years. I live in Canada and the government health care system is great. Fractured my pelvis in a car accident and they operated on me the same day and provided great after care. Most people with my severe type of injury end up with a limp, not with my top notch government paid surgeon, I can even run now.
Took my wife to the hospital and they found a brain tumor and operated the same day! Another great surgeon Of course, if you need minor surgery you have to wait a few months so the people who need more urgent care get it.
I can pick any family doctor I want. It is simple, take away the billion dollar profit insurance companies make and put it into a government system. It equals more affordable care for all! Simple economics!
For myself, who has a middle class income, the cost is about the same as private insurance in America. But lose your job, have a family member get a rare illness etc. you are always covered regardless and pay a much smaller rate. My friend lost his job, and only paid about $30 a month until he found another job.

The insurance lobby and propaganda machine is so strong in America, Americans don`t get the real facts. Just take a trip to any western country and ask for the real truth.

  6. You should know the difference between a deductible and out of pocket max. The out of pocket for a Plat plan is $4k. There is no deductible. Most services have a co-pay of $35. If you're hospitalized, you pay 10% of the cost, up to 4k. Once met you're 100% covered. I sure hope you're not an insurance agent misinforming people.

  7. If you cant afford it then simply go through a private Insurance Company, myself for example my 2 children have chip & one of my children has Medicaid they say that myself and my husband can't be covered on anything other than PC and because he makes too much money we were referred to the health Marketplace to see what we can do about getting on Obamacare we did that & the prices are ridiculous it's a lot cheaper to go through a private insurance for both he and I. Here where I'm from they have Molina & Select Health, "idk if molina or select health is nation wide or if it's just in my state" anyway so that's what we had decided to try to do. 8yrs ago before we had our other 2 children we had molina through his work and to cover him, myself and our son they took out alittle over 100 a month from his check. The last time we contacted the health market for the Obama Care for Family Insurance of 5 the cheapest one was going to be almost $200 and the most expensive one was pushing $300, in my mind the whole point of insurance is to save a little bit of money lol, like I said now two of our children have chip "that's $30 every 3months" and one of our children has Medicaid "that's free" we are going to go through either Molina or Select Health for coverage of my husband and myself.. :)
