AXIS cranes industry veteran as head of underwritingAXIS Capital Holdings has announced the appointment of Robert Quane as head of the acceptance and optimization of the portfolio. In this role, Quane will be responsible for leading the company's group survey-underwriting function while working in collaboration with its business segments, AXIS said.

Quane's responsibilities include setting up and maintaining the group-wide cover framework, the company's policies and policies and supervising the portfolio optimization process. Quane will also manage the group-wide risk management frameworks for exposure management and insurance techniques and chair its hazard / product boards. He will be based at the New York office in AXIS and will report to Eric Gesick, head office insurance technician of the group.

"Bob is a proven global insurance leader with extensive insurance experience spanning a range of business units across multiple international markets," said Gesick. "Along with leadership in our business segments, Bob's experience and expertise will be critical to helping us shape and implement a more rigorous and disciplined approach to risk management acceptance."

Prior to joining AXIS, Quane spent 22 years at AIG, where he held various insurance and actuarial positions, most recently as head of commercial real estate worldwide. He also served as head of the global group insurance and chief operating officer for AIG's international personal lines. He worked at the offices of AIG in New York, Paris, London and Frankfurt, in positions including head of European commercial car lines and head of regional risk management for the IK and Ireland. Quane began his insurance career in actuarial positions at Allstate Insurance.

Quane is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the Actuarial Advisory Board of the University of Illinois.
